Painting the fireplace

Start by using a stiff bristle brush to remove the loose mortar, use a vacuum to remove dirt and dust while brushing. Then brush with hot water and soap to clean the surface well. Let dry. Then repair any hole with mortar. Comince painting the bricks with two coats of an oil-based primer and allow it to dry at room temperature.

In the market, the best paint is an oil-based paint. Be sure to use a high temperature enamel paint for the inside of the fireplace, to better resist heat, flames and high temperatures.
