Four ways to keep your home warm this Winter

If you live in a poorly insulated home, and many of us do, you could spend thousands this winter on energy bills. But At South Atlantic Masonry and Concrete Company located in Atlanta and Florida we give you five simple ways to minimise your energy bills this Winter:

1.Close your curtains at night

During the day, your windows let in more radiant energy than gets out; sunlight can enter through the glass. At night, however, single-glazed windows can get extremely cold, even double-glazed windows aren’t great insulators.
The best way to prevent this heat loss is to close your curtains and lower your blinds immediately after dusk. They provide an extra barrier to radiant heat loss, add insulation and reduce draughts. The Curtains minimize heat loss and make the room feel cosier.

2.Cover your walls

Brick wall panels or stone walls are better insulators than glass, but they still get cold and let out lots of heat.
Fortunately you can significantly reduce energy losses by covering them with picture or mirrors. Even a simple poster adds an extra layer of insulting air, raising internal surface temperatures and cutting lost energy by a quarter. Framed pictures, mirrors or bookshelves are better, they raise the room temperature, making it snug and warm.

3. Cover your front door

Doors can let in draughts, and being thin and sometimes glazed can be very poor insulators on cold nights. Covering your door and the surrounding wall with a thick lined door curtain can eliminate pretty much all the heat loss.

4. Position your furniture in the warm

How warm you feel in a room depends on where you are, even though air temperature is the same throughout. You will feel warmer if you position yourself closer to the inside of the house because the cold external walls are further away. So try and place your furniture next to an internal stone or brick wall.

Trends in Bathrooms Renovation

We can think that the bathroom is the dullest and not fashionable space of the home,  but if you think about it is one of the places that you spend a lot of your time, so why not to let your imagination fly free and turn the space into an emanation of style and beauty. South Atlantic Masonry and Concrete Company located in Atlanta and Florida show you the trends for the next year in bathroom design, colors and materials.

- Combinations of natural materials:

Keep in mind that 2017 is going to be marked by the return to the organic to the natural and the unalterable search of new and functional. So when it comes to a bathroom design the direction will be: super clean colors, seamless lines and practical and simple arrangement of spaces but with the dash of organic coziness and elegance. So let your imagination and creativity flow and turn the functionality of the bathroom into a play of art – a contemporary creation of style.

- Continuity, The new dynamics:

Making your life more pleasant and innovative with materials that are easy to maintain and fit, can also be a dynamic and playful choice. Ensuring the stylish and classy atmosphere the straight lines and the masonry aesthetic provoke the usage of one and the same material for cladding in brick wall panels and in flagstone floors.

- Desings Combination:

When one uses a combination of modern and organic, it creates a dynamic atmosphere that evokes clean and stylish sensation. The juxtaposition of wood and stone to synthetics is very clever, combinative and suitable for many variations of design.
